For me, there are MANY bands and musicians I simply love; their music anyways.
Instead of trying to think, and name off, all those bands/singers, I am just going to name the ones that I have been listening to recently....
Disturbed- My absolute favorite band! They've been around since 2000 but I never really got into their music until their third album, Ten Thousand Fists, was released in September of 2005. From that point on, I was hooked! I love David Draiman's voice, the thunderous drums, and the way they use the bass and electric guitars to create a very powerful bass quality I have yet to hear from any other bands. That, and I simply love their songs and can relate to a couple of them like Stricken, and Bound.
Evanescence- Amy Lee's voice is just beautiful! I, personally, think she's the best female vocalist out there. Evanescence's music is not as bass-driven like that of Disturbed's but it's in their tempo and how the music itself changes during some of the songs in which one emotion is changed to another emotion. The majority of their songs have the up-tempo beat and it makes me wanna get up and dance even if the song subject is depressing. The songs are superbly written and, for me, can get into the heart of the listener and through them into any mood depending on the song.
Cascada- I adore her album, Everytime We Touch! Her music is much more dance/techno with her singing, usually, at the beginnings and ending halves of the song while the middle is used for the beat. I am a person who loves techno-style music and, sadly, had gotten away from it for a while and forgotten how good it was until I heard her album. The vast majority of her one, and only album, consists of love-like songs which are magnificently sung by her. Her songs, being techno, also spawned a separate album where various tehcno DJs remixed her songs that gave them more beat or a club-like sound. Definitely an artist worth checking out!
Hinder- I never heard much of their music until just recently when I was able to listen to their album, Extreme Behavior. The lead singer's voice (don't know his name) has a trademark voice like David Draiman's of Disturbed. It's unique and kinda rough but it works. The music, itself, has a nice beat to it and the music tells a nice story behind the subject. Much of their album consists of hardships with relationships, admiration of a woman, sex, regrets of not saying I love you to a certain woman, and hardtimes. Mainly, the subject matter is a bit depressing but the way it's done, and depending upon the listener, it can be a nice album to dance around to.
More on the way!

Kent, I think Evanescence were number one in the UK when my youngest child was born. I'm not that keen on them though I have to say! I guess I like individual songs rather than bands as such. However, I do love some - to name a few... Barry Manilow (what ya laughing at?! Some of the best lyrics ever to be penned have come from him, IMO. Its always gets me how a man can see that far into a womans heart like he does) Madonna (who doesnt love her, right? her earlier stuff was the best) Queen (I adore Queen! I am gutted that i will never get to see Freddy on stage. He takes my breath away) Lional Ritche (I chose Endless love as my wedding song, cheesy and predicatable, but there it is. That too, is one of my favourite ever songs) Guns n Roses (Axel Rose - need I say more? damn!! ) Oasis (I dont know if they made it in America - a GREAT manchester band though- one of the best) Spandau Ballet (in fact I love tons of 80s music. I also had 'Through the barricades' at my wedding - one of my fave tracks ever, too) Bon Jovi (I get shivers when I hear Jon sing...and who can fail to chant along to Bon Jovi anthems?? wow) Europe (thier Final Countdown album is one of the few I have where I never feel the need to skip any tracks. The whole album rocks my socks off) 10cc (I'm not in love is one of my fave songs of all time!) James Blunt (I saw him in concert and it was simply the best one I have ever been too - and I have been to a LOT of concerts. The emotion in his face when he sings is mesmorising - the guy just MAKES you watch him) Whitney Housten (shame about whats happened to, probably, one of the best females vocalists ever to open her mouth) Kylie Minogue (She was my idol when I was a kid, lol. I was in her fan club and everything! Its been amazing to see her endurance over the years) Micheal Jackson (I dont care about any crap whats been said about him - he is still, for me, untouchable. No-one comes close. I could watch the guy dance till my eyeballs started spinning, lol) I'm sure I have more, lol. I'll add more when I think of them.

Genesis- Phil Collins really does it for me. He has a voice like no other that I could listen to over and over again. Some of the greatest love songs I have ever heard are by them. My favorites include Throwing It All Away, Trick of the Tail, Follow You Follow Me, and In Too Deep.
Hootie and the Blowfish- I just love listening to them. They're awesome!! Favorite songs: I Go Blind, Time, Only Want to Be With You, and Let Her Cry.
Steve Winwood- Has a voice that just makes you stop and listen. Great lyric man as well. Favorite songs: Valerie, Back in the High Life Again, Higher Love, and While You See A Chance.
Elton John- Greatest performer of all time IMO. Man was his stuff hot back in the 70's and 80's. Favorite songs: Tiny Dancer, Levon, Candle in the Wind, Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
Billy Joel- I am ever so touched whenever I hear his stuff. Some of the greatest songs I have ever heard. Period. Favorite Songs: She's Always A Woman, Keeping the Faith, She's Got A Way, Scenes From an Italian Restaurant.
James Taylor- Greatest voice I have ever heard. Favorite songs: Carolina in My Mind, Fire and Rain, Sweet Baby James, Shower the People.
Rod Stewart- Great, great all around stuff. The man has it all. Favorite Songs: Rhythm of my Heart, Forever Young, Downtown Train.
REO Speedwagon- Perhaps my favorite band of all time along with Genesis. Favorite Songs: Time For Me to Fly, Can't Fight this Feeling, Take It on the Run, Keep On Loving You.

My favorites include Throwing It All Away, Trick of the Tail, Follow You Follow Me, and In Too Deep. Wow - this is one I forgotton! Yea i'm so with ya. What amazes me is that he wasnt even destined to be the frontman. After Gabriel left, he just filled in until they got someone else - but the fans loved him so much that he stayed. My fave songs of thiers (not sure which were Phils solo efforts and which were with Genesis - but never mind!) - are Invisible touch, Easy Lover, Against all Odds and Jesus he knows me Higher Love rocks! seriously I love Nikita, sacrifica and I'm still Standing - I love the recent Ghetto Gospel, too have you heard 'This Night' - wow, what a freakin lyrical masterpiece IMO!! I just have to write out the verses here. the melody is so simple too. I adore this song! I really connect with the lyrics right now, too. 'Didnt I say, I wasnt ready for romance? Didnt you promise, you would always be there? And so we danced...though it was only a slow dance I started breaking my promises right there and then
Didnt I swear, there would be no complications? Didnt you want, someone who'd seen it all before? Now that you're here, its not the same situation Suddenly I dont remember the rules anymore
How many nights, have I been lonely without you? I tell tell myself, how much I really don't care How many nights, have I been thinking about you? Wanting to hold you but knowing you would not be there'Just the way you are is just so beautiful too. I had that one at my wedding too, lol (I had tons of songs at my wedding - a full tape! it wasnt a church service) I love 'Baby Jane' - gotta love that 'When I give my heart again, I know!! Its gonna laaaast forever!!'I love his version of waltzing matilda too - I actually bought that on 7" vinal when i was a kid. hell fire, ste you can pick' em!! 'I cant fight this feeling' is one of my all time faves too!

Mrs. B, Can't Fight This Feeling was one of those songs where the first time I heard it, I nearly cried because the lyrics were so beautiful. I had to listen to it over and over. Such a wonderful song that is very emotional. It's also one of my very favorite songs. Here are the lyrics to anyone who is curious.
I cant fight this feeling any longer And yet Im still afraid to let it flow What started out as friendship, has grown stronger I only wish I had the strength to let it show
I tell myself that I cant hold out forever I said there is no reason for my fear Cause I feel so secure when were together You give my life direction You make everything so clear
And even as I wander Im keeping you in sight Youre a candle in the window On a cold, dark winters night And Im getting closer than I ever thought I might
And I cant fight this feeling anymore Ive forgotten what I started fighting for Its time to bring this ship into the shore And throw away the oars, forever
Cause I cant fight this feeling anymore Ive forgotten what I started fighting for And if I have to crawl upon the floor Come crashing through your door Baby, I cant fight this feeling anymore
My life has been such a whirlwind since I saw you Ive been running round in circles in my mind And it always seems that Im following you, girl Cause you take me to the places that alone Id never find
Cause I cant fight this feeling anymore Ive forgotten what I started fighting for And if I have to crawl upon the floor Come crushing through your door Baby, I cant fight this feeling anymore.

Wow. Now THOSE are some bad-ass lyrics. I just love that song. Anyone ever felt like that? How the song is portraying within the lyrics, I mean? Well when you do, its a weird place to be. Hurts like hell sometimes - and its scary....but its exciting too. Like I say, a weird feeling.

songs are very powerful indeed. I have felt like that on more than one occasion. You get to that certain sense when you don't want the song to end, the lyrics are beautiful, you can tell they come from the writer's soul and what he is feeling, and also brings out your own emotions and feelings. That's why people people listen to certain music when they are in certain moods. I could listen to loves songs like these all day though, they're so poetic and touching. REO Speedwagon rocks!! haha ;D

lol, totally agree with ya Steve! Yea people do listen to different songs when they are in different moods. I listen to love songs a lot simply because I love the melodies and the sentiments. They help me to deal with my own experiences of love and hurt. Many people wont listen to love songs when they are hurting because they find they get too depressed - but I find it helps me, actually.
Thats the thing with love songs like this is that they often illustate how the listener feels at one point or another. You KNOW the writer is sincere is in what he says because he seems to see right into your heart. You're like, 'Wow. Thats me. Right now, thats how I feel'
It does break your heart though, when you listen to these songs and you have that 'feeling' inside you (like the one that is talked about in the Reo Speedwagon track) - when that feeling is over someone that you know you shouldnt have fallen for. Now thats a killer.

Mrs.B - I know what you mean about Barry Manilow. The lyrics he sings are not "corny" as some people say. They are ROMANTIC!! Practically ANYthing Toni Braxton sings is aces with me! I love her voice! Teena Marie, too! She is just amazing! James Taylor is good. His stuff reminds me of when I was in 7th/8th grade. I also like some funky jazz!

Hey 62 - well I did mention Guns n Roses in my initial post on this - i'm a huge fan! But just to clarify my fave GNR track - its gotta be 'Dont Cry'. I also love 'The Blues' - which I doubt an official release will ever see the light of day. I adore Bowie too - I loved the stuff he wrote for the film Labyrinth! You seen it? Great film!
James Morrison - 'You give me something'
"You Give Me Something"
You only stay with me in the morning You only hold me when I sleep I was meant to tread the water But now I've gotten in too deep
For every piece of me that wants you Another piece backs away
You give me something That makes me scared alright This could be nothing But I'm willing to give it a try Please give me something Because someday I might know my heart
You only waited up for hours Just to spend a little time alone with me And I can say I've never bought you flowers I can't work out what they mean
I never thought that I'd love someone That was someone else's dream
You give me something That makes me scared alright This could be nothing But I'm willing to give it a try Please give me something Because someday I might call you from my heart
But it might be a second too late And the words that I could never say Are gonna come out anyway
You give me something That makes me scared alright This could be nothing But I'm willing to give it a try Please give me something Because someday I might know my heart
