A bad ass combat veteran slaughtering sinister villains in an ultra-gory, disturbingly brutal and animalistic fashion. How can this go wrong?

I could write a thesis on the waning American culture of masculinity and this trailer would be one counterexample, or as some evidence of a backlash. If you've grown up in the timespan I have, you've seen the world go from Rambo and the A-Team, to twinks and fashion haircuts. I'll be honest - I'm angry. I'm an old fashioned person, someone who believes a man should be a man of action.
Seeing this incredibly visceral, intense promotion for a movie about a character steeped in the recent military and political history of our psychologically subdued, besieged country, and his unbelievable animalistic desire to fight and win and do good in the world, it is inspiring.

Slylover, NONE of the Rambo's are gory. They had violence yes, but never gore. You'd better check them out again.
Master, Rambo can be a real man without turning into Jason.

Jason murders indiscriminately. Rambo kills evil men. If Jason only killed evil men, then I'd look forward to another Jason movie. Wouldn't you?

If it's another sequel, I'm looking forward to another Jason now. I'm not interested in the rumored remake.
From what people have described to me in this trailer just seems somehow... I don't know, beneath Rambo.

I guess everyone has thier own opinion of what they think gore is../shrugs or maybe its because im a woman that i find it somewhat gory lol As far as filmmaking standards are concerned, this is how it breaks down (and I can tell you, I'm a director): Violence-- Anything violent, of course. Doesn't matter what happens as long as it's bloodless (i.e. Rambo blowing apart the Vietnamese who killed Co in Rambo II. No blood, just a body exploding). Bloody- Blood squirting, or streams of blood used. (I.e. A Nightmare on Elm Street 1. Not particularly gory, but REALLY bloody. Most Friday the 13ths tend to be more bloody than gory as well) Gory- Anything involving grue... you know, bloody chunks or hunks of meat, or eviscerated flesh. "Planet Terror" was gory. "Jason Goes to Hell" was pretty gory. "Freddy vs. Jason" was both bloody AND gory (especially when they're on that dock slicing hunks of each other out). There ya go!
