You know, this film is absolutely bursting with evidence of great effort. It was a real college try. Stallone was in the most perfect, torturously conditioned shape of his career, the script was pretty decent, it had political relevance (incidently it does today as well), and was well acted. In Sly Moves, Stallone blames the lack of success on a pact we signed with the Soviets shortly before the film's theatrical release that made them "our new buddies". I'm not a hundred percent convinced, but there probably is something to that. Personally I think the opening sequence of scenes tainted the film more than he realized. He was stick fighting in Thailand. Stick fighting. In Thailand. I remember people actually talking about that at the time of the film's release...how it was untimely and outdated before it had a chance.

I agree, the 80's were great in so many ways. If i can only go back to that time in my life. I have to say they were some of the best days of my life. The music, the movies, the clothes and the hair styles. It was just great. wow i feel old at 32 lol What reminds me of the 80's is Krimpers, leg warmers, jelly braclets, charm necklaces, penny candy, roller skating at the skating ring. The list can go forever lol.

I love the action in First Blood. Its just a man with a tool and his guts. He even had a little humour in it, when he hijacks the Army Truck.
"Don't stop. Drive... Don't look at me, look at the road. Thats how accidents happen." John Rambo. War Hero. Convict. Officer Safety.
I'm glad we only saw Sly shirtless once in First Blood, because while he looked lean and pretty awesome in his blue jeans and tank top, he looked like a supermodel underneath.
Honestly, I can only watch Part II with a buddy and a bowl of popcorn and cheer at the mayhem in the 2nd half. I can't watch Part III at all. I don't like Rambo in the desert. I like him in the bush or jungle, where he can hide and sneak.
